Gravel Sant Joan de l’Erm – Os de Civís
Gravel or MTB route
Route summary
A circular route that leaves the Viena in Santa Coloma and goes down the road to La Seu d'Urgell. After the capital of l'Alt Urgell, there is a local goudronnée route jusqu'à Arfa et de là jusqu'à Adrall, who is not goudronnée et longe la rivière Segre.
Once in Adrall, take the N260 road for 1 km, which is the start of Port del Cantó. We quickly leave the road and take a track in good condition that takes us to the Vilamitjana road. We will take advantage of this stretch of asphalt of less than 2 km approx. to roll easily and gain strength since when we leave this road we already take a track that takes us directly to the Xalet Refugi de la Basseta uphill with some really very steep sections and with some rest.
At the Refuge it is advisable to make a technical stop to refuel since afterwards, there is absolutely nothing until Os de Civís.
From Sant Joan de l'Erm we take a beautiful downhill track in good condition that takes us to a river that we must cross (luckily there is a bridge). From there, everything is flat until the hermitage of Santa Magdalena, which is where we will start climbing again to overcome the Collada de Conflent. The place is incredible and worth the effort despite the hardness. The advantage is that once in Collada de Conflent it is all downhill to Sant Julià de Lòria (Andorra again) and where we have left the vehicle.
The descent is long since without suspension it is not very pleasant. You have to do it carefully until Os de Civís. Once there, everything is paved.
